Diarrhoea in tube feeding
Diarrhoea during tube feeding occurs as a result of intolerance to feed that has not been absorbed. The incidence of diarrhoea is reduced by:
- using a small bore tube
- using commercially prepared feeds
- administration by continuous infusion with a pump
If the above are adhered to, the incidence of diarrhoea is said to be small.
