Postoperative procedure and prognosis
In general, the postoperative course is 6-8 days, by which time the patient is mobile. By 6 weeks, most patients are able to undertake moderate exercise.
Survival data:
- 1-year survival - 95%
- 5-year survival - 88%
- at 10 years post-surgery:
- 1/3 of patients remain asymptomatic
- 1/3 have mild angina
- patency of saphenous vein grafts is 50%
- patency of left internal mammary grafts is 90%
- low-dose aspirin improves graft patency
