Contraindications
These include:
- history of fits or psychiatric disturbance
- history of epilepsy in a first-degree relative
- severely impaired liver function
- first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation
- hypersensitivity to quinine
Note that pregnancy should be avoided for 3 months after stopping the drug.
