Anti-emesis and labyrinthine sedation
Prochlorperazine may be used as an antiemetic and a labyrinthine sedative.
Doses:
- orally:
- 20 mg then 10 mg two hours later
- maintenance dose of 5-10 mg two to three times a day
- intramuscular injection:
- 12.5 mg as required
- 12.5 mg as required
- rectally:
- 25 mg as required
Smaller doses in children.
Contraindications and side-effects are common to other phenothiazines.
