Assessment of impairment and disability
In assessing impairment and disability there is much overlap between common clinical methods i.e. examination and specific disability scales.
It is important to consider:
- activities of daily living (Barthel index)
- communication - hearing, dysphasia - Kew test
- cognitive function - Mental Test Score, Kew test
- mood and affect - Zung or Hamilton depression rating scales
- kitchen assessment - before discharge home
