Amiloride hydrochloride
Amiloride is a weak diuretic which causes retention of potassium. Indications include:
- oedema
- potassium conservation with thiazide and loop diuretics, e.g. in patients at risk of hypokalaemia:
- on digoxin or with dangerous cardiac rhythm
- with low plasma potassium (<3-3.2mmol/l)
