Clinical appearance of non-dermatophyte mould nail infection

Often there is only solitary nail involvement and often toenails are more commonly affected. There is usually only superficial involvement of the nail and the colour of the nail will vary according to the infecting mould:

  • Fusarium spp - white
  • Aspergillus spp - green or black
  • Scopulariopsis spp white, yellow, brown, green
  • Acremonium spp - white
  • Scytalidium spp - white, black
  • Altenaria spp - brown
