Leukopheresis is the collection of leucocytes by a continuous flow cell separator.

Indications include:

  • emergency treatment of extreme hyperleukocytosis - priapism, respiratory distress, blurred vision, altered mental status
  • management of chronic myeloid leukaemia in pregnancy when chemotherapy is contraindicated
  • cryopreservation of stem cells
