Platelet function
The key role of platelets is in blood coagulation; this has been considered here in terms of temporally overlapping:
- adhesion and activation
- secretion
- aggregation
The net result is a thrombus which leads to a provisional cessation of haemorrhage in conjunction with vessel spasm.
