Lung aetiologies
These include:
- hyaline membrane disease
- transient tachypnoea of the newborn
- congenital pneumonia
- aspiration - meconium, blood, feed
- air leaks - pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, pneumopericardium
- polycythaemia
Rarer causes include:
- hypoplastic lungs
- congenital lobar emphysema
- chylothorax
- persistent pulmonary hypertension
