the clinical dehydration scale (CDS) for children
Used in children between 1 month and 3 years.

general appearance | normal | thirsty, restless, or lethargic, but irritable when touched | drowsy, limp, cold, sweaty, and/or comatose |
eyes | normal | slightly sunken | deeply sunken |
mucous membranes | moist | sticky | dry |
tears | present | decreased tears | absent tears |
Scoring:
- 0 - no dehydration, (<3% dehydration)
- 1-4 - some dehydration (3%-6%) dehydration
- 5-8 - moderate to severe dehydration (>=6% dehydration) (1).
