Crural candidiasis
This is candida infection of the crura of the penis - the crura of the penis is continuation of each corpus cavernosum.
This may present with an erythematous, confluent, macular rash in the crural region.
Possible predisposing factors include:
- diabetes mellitus
- immunosuppression
- poor hygiene
- obesity
The condition is treated with either nystatin or clotrimazole cream b.d. This regimen is continued for at least two weeks after the lesions have disappeared.
