Interpretation of microscopy results
- if bacteriuria positive and pyuria positive
- infant or child should be regarded as having UTI
- if bacteriuria positive and pyuria negative
- infant or child should be regarded as having UTI
- if bacteriuria negative and pyuria positive
- antibiotic treatment should be started if clinically UTI
- if bacteriuria negative and pyuria negative
- infant or child should be regarded as not having UTI
