Clinical features
The clinical features of impaired perfusion of a limb may be slowly progressive and subtle. Essentially, they are those of a compartment syndrome (see submenu) but there may be difficulty in interpretation of symptoms and signs.
Firstly, a cooling of the limb and a low ambient temperature may cause vasoconstriction with subsequent reduced capillary return. Hypovolaemia may have a similar effect. Finally, a rigid eschar may prevent the palpation of pulses.
