Complications
The most common serious complication of childhood pyrexia is febrile convulsion, occurring in children aged 1 to 5.
In general it is important to consider the effects of pyrexia on normal physiology - for example in fluid balance; it is generally accepted that for every degree above 37.8 degrees C a child has a temperature, the fluid requirement increases by 10%.
