Abductor digiti minimi muscle (hand, anatomy)
Abductor digiti minimi is one of the intrinsic hand muscles.
It arises from three contiguous sites:
- pisiform bone
- pisohamate ligment
- flexor retinaculum
It inserts into the following structures:
- ulnar border of base of proximal phalanx
- extensor expansion of little finger
- sesamoid bone
The action of abductor digiti minimi is to abduct the little finger at the metacarpophalangeal joint.
It is innervated by the deep branch of the ulnar nerve.
