Metabolic causes of scoliosis

Principally this concerns osteoporosis, which in general causes a kyphosis - a so called dowager's hump. Other metabolic conditions don't normally cause osteoporosis; for example:

  • rickets affects only the long bones
  • Paget's does not cause gross deformity
