Hand blood supply

Authoring team

The hand is supplied with blood from both the ulnar and radial arteries. In some individuals the blood supply from one of these may be negligible; it is therefore important to check for both pulses before performing procedures that might interrupt supply from one of the arteries, such as an arterial stab. Allen's test confirms the blood supply integrity.
