The interclavicular ligament is a thickening of the capsule of the sternoclavicular joint. It is a fibrous band extending from the superior surface of the medial end of the clavicle over the capsule and on to the superior surface of the manubrium sterni.
Fibres from both sides form a continuous band that traverses, and is attached to, the suprasternal notch.
