The indications for operative intervention in radial dysplasia include:

  • loss of function from angulation at the wrist; severe angulation at the wrist is no longer a relative contraindication as it can be progressively corrected with a distraction device prior to a formal radialization or centralization procedure
  • poor extensor excursion
  • cosmetic deformity
