Inferior surface

The inferior surface of the clavicular shaft has the following features, from medial to lateral:

  • costoclavicular ligament; a small depression in the bone
  • groove for subclavius muscle:
    • extends as far laterally as conoid tubercle
    • a nutrient foramen lies within this groove
    • clavicipectoral fascia attached to the periphery of the groove
  • conoid tubercle; site of origin of the conoid ligament
  • trapezoid ridge:
    • roughened
    • passes obliquely anteriorly and laterally from conoid tubercle
    • origin of trapezoid ligament
