Aneurysm (carotid artery)
Carotid artery aneurysms are rare. Those that do occur are either:
- post-traumatic
- atherosclerotic
- post-carotid endarterectomy
Clinical features include:
- pulsatile lateral neck swelling
- carotid territory TIA's
- rupture
Treatment:
- excision of aneurysm followed by end-to-end anastomosis, graft insertion of patch angioplasty
