The primary sites of intracranial metastases are:
Metastatic sources to the brain:
- lung - 33% of all intracranial tumours; 25% of lung tumours metastasise to brain
- breast - 20% of all intracranial tumours; frequency of metastasis from primary site as for lung
- malignant melanoma
- stomach
- kidney, testes
- lymphomas
Metastatic sources to the skull and dura:
- breast
- prostate
- kidney
