Prognosis
Calcium channel blocker poisoning may be fatal and it is the cardiovascular effects that kill.
Factors which reduce survival include:
- large overdose
- old and obese patients
- previous cardiac disease
- concomitant ingestion of other cardiac drugs
- verapamil worse than diltiazem
- sustained release worse than short release
