This drug inhibits the release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum and thus results in a dissociation of excitation-contraction coupling. Hepatotoxicity is the major side effect. If there is pre-existing liver disease then an acute hepatatitis, chronic active hepatitis or cirrhosis may occur.
