Headache in HIV infection is common and has many aetiologies:

  • aseptic meningitis is common in the seroconversion disease

  • headache may accompany systemic infections

  • chronic meningitides in AIDS may cause headache:
    • Mycobacterium tuberculosis meningitis
    • cryptococcal meningitis

  • depression headache

  • idiopathic HIV headache
