Interferon beta

Interferon beta is a subgroup of the interferon peptides containing at least 3 members. It is produced from a range of leukocytes. Its in vitro functions include:

  • production of an antiviral state
  • cytostatic for tumour cells
  • stimulation of B lymphocytes
  • pyretic

Interferon beta-1b can be used in multiple sclerosis.
