Muscular dystrophies
The muscular dystrophies are a group of genetically determined diseases which cause wasting and weakness of muscles. The pattern of muscle involvement is characteristic and bilaterally symetrical.
The modes of inheritance may be autosomal, dominant or recessive, or X-linked.
