Treatment
Shunting - ventriculo-peritoneal or ventriculo-atrial - generally leads to recovery in normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Patients which respond best are those with a known preceding cause, periventricular lucency on CT scan, and beta waves on intracranial pressure monitoring.
