Investigations
The first line investigation is a cranial ultrasound, with which the cystic lesion may be seen.
Quite often a physiological increase in the echo density on ultrasound is seen. This is not a precursor of a cystic lesion. However, periventricular damage may occur without the manifestation of significant early cystic change.
