Investigations
The aim of investigations in Creutzfeldt Jakob disease are to exclude treatable conditions:
- MRI of the brain:
- high signal in the posterior thalamus may be seen in new variant CJD
- lumbar puncture with immunoassay for 14-3-3 protein
- EEG
- prion protein gene analysis
