Clinical features
The characteristic clinical features include:
- polyneuropathy
- mononeuritis multiplex
- mononeuropathy
- syringomyelia-like syndrome
- bilateral facial paralysis
- lymphadenopathy, especially of the tonsils
Laboratory examination reveals:
- low total cholesterol
- almost absent HDL & apolipoproteins A-I & A-II
- leukopaenia
- thrombocytopaenia
