Delivery phase defects
Ability to export lipid from enterocytes into lymphatics may result from:
- lack of apoproteins, e.g. abetalipoproteinaemia - lipid accumulates within the enterocytes resulting in malabsorption
- lymphatic obstruction:
- intestinal lymphoma
- Whipple's disease
- lymphangiectasia - very rare
