Secondary bile salts
Secondary bile salts are those formed by deconjugation of primary bile salts within the gut, reabsorption and reconjugation within the liver. They include, with relative percentages of total bile salt pool:
- deoxycholic acid - 18%
- lithocholic acid - 2%
