Interleukin-8
Interleukin 8 is a low molecular weight cytokine consisting of a relatively short peptide chain. It is produced in:
- mononuclear phagocytes
- lymphocytes
- endothelial cells
- fibroblasts
- neutrophils
Its effects are mainly pro-inflammatory and include neutrophil activation, chemotaxis and degranulation.
