Labour can be managed in an active or expectant manner. Principals include:
- diagnosis of labour:
- regular contractions
- cervical change
- show (loss of mucus plug pv)
- rupture of membranes
- monitoring of the progress
- ensuring the maternal wellbeing
- ensuring the fetal wellbeing
