Pseudocyesis

This is a rare condition where a woman believes she is pregnant and develops symptoms consistent with this such as:

  • amenorrhoea
  • abdominal distension
  • rarely, hallucinations of foetal movements

Pseudocyesis is commonest in young women. Often the individual wants to become pregnant.
