Aetiology
Occasionally a sore white eye may be caused by:
- low-grade blephero-conjunctivitis
- low-grade iritis
- mild glaucoma where the rise in intra-ocular pressure is too mild to cause congestion, may make the eye ache
- optic neuritis - here there is usually some visual disturbances
- pain around the eyeball may result from a neuralgia from adjacent sinusitis
