General side-effects of centrally acting hypertensive agents
Clonidine and methyldopa commonly cause side-effects including:
- sedation and depression
- dry mouth
- oedema
- rebound hypertension on discontinuing treatment
Sedation is equally common with moxonidine but other side-effects are significantly reduced.
