Diagnosis of wasp or bee sting allergy
The main method for diagnosing an allergy to bee and/or wasp venom is skin testing with venom.
- another less sensitive method is measurement of allergenspecific IgE antibodies in serum
- serum tryptase may be measured at baseline (after a reaction to a sting has subsided) because this may predict the severity of a response to a subsequent sting
