Radiological changes in ankylosing spondylitis include:
- erosion, sclerosis and ankylosis of the sacroiliac joints
- syndesmophytes - bony bridges between neighbouring vertebrae - produce a 'bamboo spine' appearance
- peripheral joints show erosive changes that resemble rheumatoid arthritis - subchondral erosions
