- CXR
- Mantoux test
- examination of sputum, faeces, urine, and gastric aspirates
- barium studies: examination of large and small bowel may show thickening, ulceration and stricture formation with a similar pattern to that seen in Crohn's disease
- colonoscopy and biopsy
- laparotomy: this may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis
