Indications for corticosteroid treatment

Absolute indications for oral steroids are:

  • neurological or cardiac sarcoidosis
  • myopathy
  • hypercalcaemia
  • ocular involvement - if topical therapy has failed (1)
  • significant or progressive impairment of pulmonary function
  • disfiguring skin lesions
  • persistent, severe systemic symptoms
