Glomerulonephritis (diffuse proliferative)
Diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis presents clinically with nephritic syndrome and is characterized by the following histological features:
- mesangial and endothelial cell proliferation
- polymorphonuclear cell infiltrate
- granular subepithelial deposits of C3 and immunoglobulins
- swollen glomeruli
Diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis is caused by:
- streptococcal infection
- SLE
