The aetiology of haematuria is considered here in two ways:

  • with respect to site of bleeding
  • with respect to frequency of occurrence

Common causes of haematuria include UTI, bladder tumours, urinary tract stones, urethritis, benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and prostate cancer.
