Some indications for gastrectomy:

  • partial:
    • palliation of carcinoma of the distal stomach
    • benign gastric and duodenal ulceration
    • benign tumours
  • total:
    • palliation of carcinoma of the proximal stomach
    • multifocal carcinoma
    • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
