'Goose flesh' is the lay term for the appearance of the skin in Man in response to cold or fear. It appears white and has elevation of its hairs.
It is a result of sudden, increased sympathetic outflow. Cutaneous vasoconstriction occurs with activation of arrector muscles to lever up their associated hairs.
