Hemostasis
Haemostasis is the cessation of bleeding.
Considered physiologically, haemostasis involves the activation of platelets, plasma and tissue factors - blood coagulation - and vessel constriction.
Surgically, haemostasis commonly refers to the act of stemming haemorrhage with techniques like diathermy, cross-clamping and ligatures.
Disorders of haemostasis include:
- bleeding disorders
