Authoring team

Proximal is an adjective that describes a point nearer the trunk of the body than another specified point. For example, in the leg the knee is more proximal to the foot.

Alternatively, it is used to indicate a point along a nerve or blood vessel that is nearer its origin e.g. the CNS and heart respectively.
