Shunt blockage leads to a return of the original symptoms of the shunt.
Treatment is by removal and insertion of a new shunt; the postion may have to be reassessed.
Common agents causing blockage include the choroid plexus, high CSF protein and blood clot.
Obstruction is demonstrated by comparing current ventricular size to a baseline with CT or MRI.
